IPO-Pakistan Ambassador Highlights Intellectual Property’s Role in Economic Growth

Islamabad, Ambassador Farukh Amil, Chair of IPO-Pakistan, underscored the significance of intellectual property (IP) rights in bolstering Pakistan’s economic development during a two-day workshop at Quaid-i-Azam University.

According to Press Information Department, the workshop, held at the School of Politics and International Relations in collaboration with the School of Law and the Office of Research, Innovation, and Commercialization (ORIC), focused on skills essential for economic innovation, including patent drafting, trademark filing, and copyright registration. Ambassador Amil emphasized the value of IP rights for students, innovators, and entrepreneurs and called for increased public awareness and advocacy on IP issues. He detailed IPO-Pakistan’s initiatives to join international IP treaties and enhance the utilization of IP tools such as trademarks, copyrights, patents, and geographical indications in the country. His message to the attendees was to “Invent! Own! Earn!” highlighting the path towards economic self-reliance and development.

The event attracted a diverse group of students, faculty members, and IP professionals, who lauded the informative and inspiring sessions led by Ambassador Amil.
