Islamabad, The Intellectual Property Organization (IPO) of Pakistan and The Millennium Universal College (TMUC) hosted a seminar on Thursday to commemorate World Intellectual Property Day, focusing on the enhancement of intellectual property rights awareness and its impact on innovation and national development.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the seminar aimed to educate attendees on the crucial role of intellectual property (IP) in fostering creativity and sustainable development. Farukh Amil, Chairperson of the Intellectual Property Organization Pakistan, spoke on the necessity of integrating IP education into the national curriculum to empower students and professionals with the necessary skills to manage IP effectively.
During the seminar, Farukh Amil called on students to develop and monetize their innovative ideas, underlining the importance of IP in achieving economic security and the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. Additionally, Ms. Shazia Adnan, Director General of IPO-Pakistan, reiterated the organization’s commitment to nurturing creativity and safeguarding innovations. She outlined future initiatives including the introduction of IP education in the national curriculum, launching a nationwide IP awareness campaign, and developing a National Intellectual Property Strategy.
