Lahore, September 17, 2021 (PPI-OT): Institute of Public Health will be shifted on solar power system under energy conservation program. This initiative will be helpful to ensure uninterrupted power supply to the institute and to save lot of expenditure occurred on electricity billing. A water filtration plant also be installed for the provision of safe drinking water to the students, faculty members and the staff of the institute. It was decided in the 6th meeting of the Board of Management (BoM), Institute of Public Health, Lahore, chaired by the former Governor Punjab and the chairman of the BoM, Lt. Gen. (R) Khalid Maqbool.
Dean IPH, Prof. Dr. Zarfishan Tahir, after the meeting, told that the BoM gave approval to enhance and improve the teaching and educational facilities as well as the renovation of class rooms. She further said that a Common Room especially for ladies will also be established and a Facilitation Centre will be setup in the institute. Moreover, upgradation of existing laboratory and establishment of new Lab was also on the agenda of the meeting.
While talking to the participants of the meeting, Lt. Gen. (R) Khalid Maqbool said that every step would be taken to uplift the educational and research facilities in the IPH to make this institution up to the international standard enabling it to play its pivotal role in prevention and control of diseases and to improve public health indicators.
The meeting also reviewed the progress in the collaboration and joint programs of research and education with the national as well as international educational institutions and other organizations. BoM meeting was also attended by its members including Prof. Shakeela Zamaan, ex- accountant general Punjab, Imran Iqbal, Dr. Saima Ayub, Deputy Secretary Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Department, Dr. Aisha Pervez and the officer of Finance Department.
