Birmingham, April 12, 2023 (PPI-OT): To highlight Kashmiris’ struggle for right to self-determination, an activist in the UK is holding long peace walk which concluded outside Indian High Commission London, the other day. Tehreek-e-Kashmir (TeK) UK in a press release issued in London said, Kharlzada Kasrat Rai, who is an international walker, began his “Kashmir Peace Walk” from Manchester to the Indian High Commission London. He covered 350 KMS on foot.
TeK held several reception events in honor of Rai in various cities of the UK. During his walk, Rai was received at Kashmir House in Birmingham by TeK UK President, Fahim Kayani, who welcomed the international walker and applauded his contributions to the struggle of Kashmiris to get freedom from India’s illegal occupation. Kayani said such events are an important factor to raise awareness regarding the freedom movements. “Diaspora and our friends must support such initiatives,” he said.
“There is no doubt that the solution to end illegal occupation of Kashmir by India should be peaceful and Mr Rai’s peace walk on Kashmir is a reminder that any forward step on Kashmir solution would be better,” said Kayani. Kashmir, Kayani said, is divided between two nuclear powers. “If cool heads do not sit and think wisely, the occupation in Kashmir by India can lead to a nuclear disaster with far reaching consequences,” he said, lauding Rai for his efforts to seek a peaceful solution to the Kashmir dispute. Alongside Tehreek-e-Kashmir president, British-Pakistani and Kashmiri community welcomed Rai and appreciated his efforts in Oxfordshire and Luton.
