International Disability Day of Persons with Disabilities: Murad Ali Shah offers NGOs, organizations to come over to protect rights of persons with disabilities 

Karachi, December 03, 2022 (PPI-OT):Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has said that his government is ready to serve special souls in every way and shall cooperate with every department, NGO, and organization working to promote and protect the rights of persons with disabilities.

This he said while speaking at a programme the Department Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities organised in connection with International Day of Persons with Disabilities here at Banquet Hall of the CM House. The programme was attended by NGOS working for special persons, businessmen, senior government officers, members of civil society, persons with disabilities, and others.

He said that he was the third programme of persons with disabilities at Chief Minister House., since the pre-covid program held in 2019, for persons with disabilities, students, teaching faculty, parents, representatives of the business community, and organisations working for the welfare of persons with disabilities.

The CM said that his government was already committed to transforming the lives of persons having different disabilities, who were deeply affected heavily marginalized exposed to Societal Vulnerabilities, discrimination, and exploitation by ensuring their `Rights to privacy; Equity in education, Equity in Health and Rehabilitation services and Equity in skill development and employment.’

Mr Shah said that for the year 2022, the United Nations `Theme’ of the day was “Transformative solutions for inclusive development “and the role of innovation in fuelling an accessible and equitable world”. He added that the transformative solutions for inclusive development cover three different interactive dialogues, including Innovation for disability-inclusive development in employment, equality, and sport.

Murad Shah said that the Sindh government in the light of international convention on the rights of persons with disabilities, the constitution of Pakistan, Sindh empowerment of persons with disabilities Act-2018, through its established departments, agencies, and authorities have made all out efforts to ensure the environment of equality and non-discrimination in the province when it comes to self-respect, individual dignity in society, their right to education, health, rehabilitation services, their participation in socio-political, economic religio-cultural, recreational and sports activities.

The CM said that his government has established

C-ARTS on company mode which was a state-of-the-art campus in Karachi and Hyderabad for Autistic rehabilitation. He added that the same would soon be extended to Sindh’s other districts and divisions.

Sindh Institute of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Centre is also a state-of-the-art and magnificent project established in Karachi and soon, other campuses would be established in all the Divisional Head Quarters of the province, the CM said and added his government was very dedicated to working with renowned non-profit organisations working for disabled persons. “We demand from all of you to engage your expertise, skills, and administrative management for the different rehabilitation services, inclusive education, vocational training, and employment across Sindh and we are ready to mobilize its resources for good cause.

Earlier, CM Special Assistant on Department of Persons with Disabilities Sadiq Memon highlighted the performance of his department in the rehabilitation of differently-abled persons. Those who spoke on the occasion were Senator Tauseef, NGOs leaders working for differently-abled persons. The differently-abled children presented tableaus, national songs, and plays which were applauded by the people presented on the occasion.
