International Day of Total Elimination of Nuclear Weapons Calls for Global Disarmament


New York: Today marks the International Day of Total Elimination of Nuclear Weapons, a day dedicated to advocating for the eradication of nuclear arms globally. In a message delivered on this occasion, United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres appealed to nuclear-armed nations to spearhead disarmament efforts by adhering strictly to their commitments and resolving never to deploy nuclear weapons under any circumstances.



According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Secretary-General Guterres emphasized the importance of total disarmament as the only viable solution to neutralize the global nuclear threat. He stressed the role of nuclear-weapon states in leading by example, fulfilling their disarmament obligations, and making a pledge against the use of nuclear weapons regardless of the situation.
