New York: Today marks the observance of the International Day for People of African Descent, established by the United Nations to honor the rich heritage and myriad contributions of people of African descent globally.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the United Nations designated this day to both celebrate the diverse heritage and acknowledge the numerous contributions of the African diaspora. The observance also serves as a platform to foster global recognition of the challenges faced by people of African descent due to racial discrimination and to work towards eliminating all forms of discrimination.
The International Day for People of African Descent aims to enhance awareness of the cultural and historical legacy of the African diaspora and promote the important role they play in societies worldwide.
