Islamabad: In response to the recent heavy rainfall in Islamabad, Federal Minister for Interior Mohsin Naqvi has issued directives to the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to intensify efforts in managing water drainage across the city. The minister’s proactive approach aims to mitigate the impact of flooding, particularly in low-lying areas, and to ensure the safety and normalcy of daily activities.
According to Press Information Department, Minister Naqvi personally reached out to CDA Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa, emphasizing the urgency of the situation. He instructed that the drainage operations be expedited and closely monitored, ensuring that all relevant officers and staff remain actively engaged in the field until the process is complete.
Furthermore, the minister called for continuous vigilance over Islamabad’s streets, drains, and waterways, with specific attention to underpasses and other critical locations prone to flooding. He highlighted the importance of maintaining traffic flow and directed the traffic police to be proactive in their duties during this period. Additional resources have also been instructed to be deployed to support the ongoing water drainage efforts.
The measures underscore the government’s commitment to addressing the challenges posed by severe weather conditions and safeguarding the residents and infrastructure of Islamabad.
