Interior Minister Orders Investigation into Series of Forest Fires in Islamabad


Islamabad, In response to multiple forest fire incidents in Islamabad and the Margalla Hills, Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has initiated a comprehensive investigation to ascertain the causes of the fires, which all occurred on the same day.



According to Press Information Department, Minister Naqvi has directed Muhammad Ali Randhawa, the Chairman of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Chief Commissioner of Islamabad, to establish an investigative committee. This body is tasked with determining whether the fires were accidental or deliberately set. The committee is also expected to identify and hold accountable those responsible for any acts of negligence or arson.



In line with the Minister’s directives, the Chief Commissioner and the Inspector General of Islamabad Police have already begun assigning investigative tasks, and FIRs are being prepared. Minister Naqvi emphasized the urgency of the investigation, highlighting the need for thorough inquiry and preventive strategies to safeguard the capital’s vital green spaces.
