Interior Minister Naqvi Orders Rapid Water Drainage in Islamabad Following Heavy Rains


Islamabad: Following torrential rains that inundated various parts of the capital, Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi issued directives to Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA), Muhammad Ali Randhawa, to ensure rapid drainage of accumulated water. The minister emphasized the immediate mobilization of field teams to tackle the flooding and maintain traffic flow.



According to Press Information Department, Minister Naqvi stressed the importance of field officers and staff remaining actively engaged in flood management operations. He instructed that all available resources, including additional personnel and machinery, be deployed to oversee the drainage systems, highways, and waterways to prevent disruptions.



The directive also included specific instructions to expedite water removal from critical areas like underpasses, and to ensure traffic police are actively managing vehicular movement to avoid congestion caused by the rains. Chairman CDA, Muhammad Ali Randhawa, informed the Minister about the measures already undertaken to manage the water levels.
