Islamabad: In a proactive measure to ensure the safety of Youm-e-Ashur commemorations, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi oversaw the security operations for the 9th Muharram procession in Islamabad today. The minister’s visit included an aerial inspection of the procession’s route and discussions with top security officials to reinforce the security framework across the region.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Minister Naqvi provided directives to IG Islamabad Police, Ali Nasir Rizvi, and Chairman CDA, Muhammad Ali Randhawa, emphasizing the need for meticulous security arrangements. He instructed security personnel to maintain their posts until the processions have fully concluded and called for rigorous implementation of a special Muharram security plan. Additionally, Naqvi highlighted the necessity of alternative security strategies in light of the recent rains to ensure the uninterrupted and safe observance of Muharram processions.
Minister Naqvi also affirmed the federal government’s commitment to supporting provincial and regional authorities in Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir to maintain peace and order during these significant religious events.
