Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi Reignites Long-Stalled Margalla Road Expansion in Islamabad

Islamabad: Federal Minister of Interior Mohsin Naqvi has ordered the immediate resumption and completion of the Margalla Road expansion project, aiming to open the road to traffic by August 14. This initiative seeks to revitalize a project that has been dormant since 2008, integrating modern infrastructure elements such as a cycle track and connecting Margalla Avenue to Murree Road.

According to Press Information Department, during his visit to the site, Minister Naqvi inspected the ongoing asphalt work and emphasized the need for high-quality construction. He directed that the expansion, initially started in 2007 and intended to be completed by 2008, be finalized within the set deadline to ease local traffic congestion.

Chief Commissioner Islamabad Muhammad Ali Randhawa, along with Deputy Commissioner Irfan Memon and the project contractor, briefed the Minister on the historical context and the importance of the project for the city’s development. The renewed push to complete the Margalla Road expansion is part of a broader effort to improve urban infrastructure in the capital.
