Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi Proposes Smart Policing Initiatives in Islamabad

Islamabad: Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has directed a comprehensive overhaul of Islamabad’s police stations, aiming to transition them into smart facilities that are more welcoming and less intimidating for citizens.

According to Press Information Department, Minister Naqvi, during a recent review meeting, underscored the urgent need for modernizing police infrastructure in the capital to reflect a world-class standard. He noted his personal observations of the poor conditions at existing stations and outlined a phased transformation plan. This plan includes deploying well-educated, well-mannered officers and ensuring no compromises in the recruitment process, focusing strictly on merit, fitness, and education.

The initiative will also address the need for permanent locations for police stations currently operating in makeshift or rented spaces. Minister Naqvi emphasized the importance of adopting low-cost, high-quality designs for this upgrade and called for immediate steps towards smarter policing to positively change interactions with the public.
