Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi Advocates for Political Unity to Uphold State Authority

Islamabad: During a Senate session today, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi called on all political parties to unite in defense of state authority against any forces that challenge it. He emphasized the importance of collaboration among political entities to address and resolve national concerns while clearly stating that threats against state authority would not be tolerated.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Naqvi responded to points raised by Senators, reinforcing the need for a unified approach to governance. He highlighted recent efforts by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif during his visit to Quetta, where he engaged with various stakeholders to address local issues in Balochistan. The Prime Minister has directed the allocation of substantial funds, including five billion rupees to the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) of Balochistan and an additional eight billion rupees for provincial divisions, aiming to enhance local governance and resolve pressing issues.

The Interior Minister also noted that recent attacks on the 26th of this month were attempts to disrupt the upcoming SCO Council of Heads of Government meeting scheduled in Pakistan in October. He underscored the importance of political unity in ensuring such international events proceed without interference.

The session saw contributions from other leaders as well, including the Leader of the Opposition, Shibli Faraz, who echoed the need for increased political engagement to tackle ongoing issues. The Senate has adjourned and is set to reconvene on Monday at five in the evening.
