Interior Minister Approves National Drug Survey to Address Drug Menace

Islamabad: Federal Minister for Interior and Narcotics Control, Mohsin Naqvi, has given in-principle approval for the National Drug Survey, which aims to gather comprehensive data on drug use across Pakistan after an 11-year hiatus.

According to Press Information Department, the survey’s approval was announced during a meeting chaired by the minister, involving the Committee on National Drug Survey. The survey will extend beyond households to include educational institutions, slums, and other areas to ensure a broad and accurate data collection.

The minister emphasized the necessity of a professional and transparent approach to the survey to aid in effective drug prevention strategies. The survey’s logistical details are to be finalized within 15 days, with collaboration between the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) and the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, and potential partnerships with international development organizations.
