Interior Minister Announces Crackdown on Fake CNIC Holders

Islamabad, The Minister for Interior, Sarfraz Ahmad Bugti, has announced an impending government crackdown on individuals holding fake Computerized National Identity Cards (CNICs). This move comes as part of a broader initiative to address illegal residency and enhance national security.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Bugti, in a conversation with a private television channel, disclosed that law enforcement agencies are actively targeting unregistered and illegal foreigners in Pakistan. He emphasized the government’s openness to foreigners with valid documents. The Minister linked illegal Afghan residents to recent terrorist activities and street crimes in Pakistan. He also assured that Afghan families at holding centers are being provided with all necessary facilities. Regarding the repatriation of non-registered foreigners, Bugti mentioned a timeline of three to four months to facilitate their return to Afghanistan.
