Islamabad, January 27, 2022 (PPI-OT):The Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training (MoFEPT) held a three-day Interprovincial Curriculum Workshop in Islamabad from 25th to 27th January 2022. The Inter-Provincial Curriculum Workshop (IPCW) brought subject experts from all over Pakistan together to finalize the ECE to Grade 8 curriculum.
The IPCW is a culmination of the Policy Dialogue Series which were held in December 2021 co-hosted by the Federal government and Provincial / Area governments to receive feedback on the draft curriculum. The IPCW was co-hosted by Provincial/Area Departments of Education and supported by the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training.
Federal Government played a coordinating role and provided a neutral platform to gain consensus on the updated curriculum draft for ECE-Grades 8. They also discussed implementation challenges and next steps related to textbooks, teachers, and assessments. The IPCW Closing Ceremony was initiated by Federal Education Minister Mr. Shafqat Mahmood announcing that consensus on Standards and SLOs for Grades ECE-8 was achieved marking a timely completion of SNC Phase 2.
The event was attended by prominent personalities including Education Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mr. Shahram Tarakai, Provincial Secretaries of Education, Directors of the provincial curriculum departments and textbook boards, heads of Armed forces educational institutions, religious scholars, and educationists from different institutions.
Director National Curriculum Council, Dr. Mariam Chughtai thanked the provincial and Area education departments for their immense contribution towards developing high standards for all children across Pakistan. Minister for Federal Education Mr. Shafqat Mehmood lauded the efforts of the experts from public and private sectors from different parts of the country. He congratulated Dr. Mariam Chughtai, Director National Curriculum Council, and her team for leading the way in this national cause.
