Islamabad, An investigation is currently underway following an incident where police officers entered the residence of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan in Islamabad without authorization.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, a spokesperson for the Islamabad Police stated that strict action would be taken against any officers found guilty of violating the law. The incident occurred when local police, acting on a tip from an informant, mistakenly targeted the house in the F-7/2 sector of the Federal Capital last night while searching for an absconder. Upon realizing the house belonged to Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, the police officers promptly left the premises.
Barrister Gohar Ali filed a complaint with the Supreme Court regarding the police’s arrival at his house. In response, the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Pakistan summoned Dr. Akbar Nasir Khan, the Inspector General (IG) of Islamabad Police, and ordered a thorough investigation into the matter. The Court also directed the IG to personally address the complaint of the PTI Chairman.
The police spokesperson further stated that the IG has assured disciplinary action against any officers found guilty. As an immediate response, five police officers, including the SHO of Margalla Police Station, were suspended.
This incident has triggered a wider conversation about police protocol and accountability, particularly in cases involving high-profile political figures.
