Information Minister Dismisses ‘The Economist’ Article Attributed to Former PTI Chairman as Ghost Column

Islamabad, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Murtaza Solangi clarified in a recent television appearance that an article published in “The Economist,” allegedly written by the former PTI Chairman, was actually a ghost column.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, speaking on a private TV channel’s program, Solangi revealed that the present PTI Chairman does not agree with the content of the article. He called for accountability within “The Economist” for failing to verify the authorship properly before publication.

The Minister stressed the need for accuracy and transparency in journalism, urging “The Economist” to maintain journalistic standards and reveal the true author of the article. He highlighted the importance of authenticity in journalism and the adherence to its fundamental principles.

Additionally, Solangi emphasized the necessity for fair reporting and stated that the media’s primary objective should be to uphold the principles of journalism and democratic norms. In response to a query, he mentioned that the former PTI Chairman currently does not have internet access in jail.

Discussing the upcoming general elections, the Information Minister reassured that the caretaker government, the Election Commission of Pakistan, and the public are committed to ensuring timely and fair elections. He expressed confidence in the democratic process and the importance of adherence to constitutional practices.
