Information Minister Criticizes Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister’s Remarks as Threat to Democratic Values

Islamabad: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Attaullah Tarar, has sharply criticized Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur for what he described as “provocative” remarks, accusing him of incompetence and threatening the democratic fabric of the nation. The minister’s condemnation came in response to Gandapur’s recent statements, which included threats of action against Islamabad and Punjab, recalling the tumultuous events of May 9.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Minister Tarar denounced the Chief Minister’s comments as contrary to the principles of democracy and parliamentary conduct. He argued that the governance of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa under Gandapur has been marked by significant corruption and inefficiency, particularly in critical sectors like health, education, and public welfare, which require urgent reformative measures.

The Minister also pointed to the provincial government’s failure to match the Federal and Punjab governments’ efforts in providing relief to electricity consumers and improving public services through the establishment of hospitals and educational institutions. Furthermore, Tarar accused the PTI of trying to destabilize the country’s progress towards economic recovery and incite unrest ahead of the upcoming SCO meeting.

Concluding his statement, Tarar contended that those opposing the government’s policies, including disrupting the visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping, are acting against Pakistan’s national interests. He also linked criticisms of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s foreign policy, especially his support for Palestine, to external influences, suggesting that Israeli agents in Pakistan are attempting to undermine the government.
