Islamabad, Caretaker Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Murtaza Solangi, confirmed today that Pakistan’s general elections are set to take place on February 8th, as political parties gear up for intensified campaigning following the publication of revised candidate lists.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Solangi, while addressing the media in Islamabad, reassured the public and stakeholders that the elections would proceed as planned next month. He highlighted that Pakistan has a history of conducting elections even under challenging circumstances, noting that the current situation is more favourable than in the past.

The Minister also touched upon the involvement of foreign media in the election process. He mentioned that coordination between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Election Commission of Pakistan would be instrumental in managing the arrival and coverage of international media for the elections.

Addressing concerns about recent internet disruptions in the country, Solangi clarified that these were due to technical issues and were not politically motivated.
