Islamabad: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar has accused the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party of engaging in politics that threaten national security through acts of violence and conspiracy. The minister’s allegations include incidents of violence on May 9th and efforts to financially undermine the state.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Tarar detailed several serious accusations against PTI and its leadership. He claimed that the leader of what he referred to as “Tehreek Intishar” had admitted to orchestrating the May 9th violence, which targeted over 200 military installations and the General Headquarters. Tarar highlighted that during these attacks, family members of Imran Niazi, a key PTI figure, were actively involved outside the Corps Commander House, directing the assaults.
Furthermore, Tarar criticized PTI’s actions in economic arenas, such as writing to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in an attempt to default the country financially. He also condemned the party’s involvement in the alleged conspiracy known as the “cipher incident” and the desecration of memorials dedicated to national martyrs. As per Tarar, these actions are akin to those that would be taken by enemies of the state, not just political opponents.
The minister emphasized the need for strict measures against what he described as a “mischievous and anarchic group,” to safeguard the country’s security and uphold national interests.
