Inflation Decline Signals Success of Government Economic Policies, Says Minister Tarar

Islamabad: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar highlighted the recent drop in inflation to a single digit, marking it as a testament to the effective economic strategies implemented by the Federal Government under Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s leadership. The announcement came during a session of the National Assembly where the Minister addressed various queries concerning national issues.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Tarar detailed that the inflation rate has fallen to 9.6 percent, the first such occurrence in the last three years, citing data from the State Bank of Pakistan. This significant reduction was discussed in response to a question during the Question Hour in the National Assembly.

In addition to economic matters, Tarar revealed plans to increase accessibility to National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) services in South Waziristan by adding three more centers to the existing five. This expansion aims to better serve the local population’s needs.

Furthermore, regarding the status of employees from departments that are being discontinued, the Minister assured that affected personnel would either be relocated to other departments or receive compensation through a golden handshake scheme.

The session also saw legislative activity with the National Assembly passing four bills: “The Apostille Bill, 2024”, “The Cannabis Control and Regulatory Authority Bill, 2024”, “The Establishment of Telecommunication Appellate Tribunal Bill, 2024”, and “The Privatization Commission (Amendment) Bill, 2024”. Additionally, “The Pakistan Navy (Amendment) Bill, 2024” was introduced.

The National Assembly is scheduled to reconvene tomorrow at 11 a.m. for further discussions and legislative processes.
