Indonesian Consulate Delegation Meets with Karachi Mayor to Discuss Local Government Cooperation

Karachi: A delegation from the Indonesian Consulate, headed by Mr. Arie Poluzzi, met with Karachi Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab at the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) head office on Monday. The meeting focused on enhancing mutual cooperation between Karachi and Jakarta, particularly in the areas of local government systems and urban development.

According to Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, the delegation, which included Mr. Teguh Wiweko, Charge d’Affaires, Sana Sarfraz, the Information and Culture Staff Officer, and other officials, discussed several matters of mutual interest with the Mayor. The conversation notably covered Mayor Wahab’s recent visit to Jakarta, where he explored various aspects of the local government system.

Mayor Wahab expressed his gratitude towards the Indonesian Consulate for facilitating his visit and emphasized the successes of his trip. He highlighted the potential benefits of increased cooperation between Karachi, Pakistan’s largest city and a major commercial hub, and Jakarta, the largest city in Southeast Asia and the second most populous city in the world. Both cities, he noted, could greatly benefit from sharing insights and experiences in managing urban challenges.

The Indonesian delegation reaffirmed their commitment to supporting the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation in its local government initiatives and expressed hope for the success of ongoing infrastructure projects in Karachi.

The meeting concluded with an exchange of commemoratives, where Mayor Wahab presented a shield to Mr. Arie Poluzzi on behalf of KMC, and in return, the Indonesian Consulate presented a souvenir to the Mayor.
