India’s Visa Cancellations Pose Humanitarian Concerns: Foreign Office

Islamabad: India’s decision to cancel visas for Pakistani citizens has resulted in significant humanitarian challenges, according to Shafqat Ali Khan, a spokesperson for Pakistan’s Foreign Office. The move has reportedly left several Pakistani patients unable to complete critical medical treatments and has led to instances of family separations.

In a statement released in Islamabad, Khan highlighted the plight of patients who had to return home in precarious health conditions due to the visa cancellations. He noted that there are alarming reports of families and children being separated as a consequence of the abrupt policy change.

Adding to the complications, some Pakistani citizens find themselves stranded at the Attari border, unable to return home. The spokesperson expressed concern over these reports and lamented the situation’s impact on affected individuals.

The last opportunity for crossing the Wagah-Attari border was set for April 30, according to the statement. Khan emphasized Pakistan’s readiness to facilitate the return of its citizens should Indian authorities permit it.

Despite the current challenges, the spokesperson assured that the Wagah border will remain accessible to Pakistani citizens in the future, indicating a commitment to resolve the ongoing issue.
