New Delhi: India’s ambition to achieve self-reliance in military technology is facing significant challenges as several crucial defense projects experience operational setbacks.

According to a statement by Kashmir Media Service, the Akash missile system, despite years of development, has a success rate of less than 50%. Meanwhile, the Tejas fighter jet is reportedly struggling with engine failures and design issues.

The Arjun tank, after decades of investment, continues to have reliability concerns. Additionally, the MRSAM air defense system’s shortcomings reveal significant vulnerabilities.

Beyond these projects, India’s drone programs, anti-tank missiles, and advanced jets such as the Su-30MKI have also caused issues during demonstrations, raising concerns for the government. Corruption, mismanagement, and underperformance are cited as ongoing problems plaguing India’s defense sector, casting doubt on the country’s military modernization efforts.
