India’s dreaded NIA raids over 100 places at premises of the associates of Khalistani leader

New Delhi, May 17, 2023 (PPI-OT): India’s dreaded National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted raids at the premises of the associates of Jaswinder Singh Multani, a member of the Sikh representative organization Sikhs for Justice (SFJ), in more than 100 places in several Indian states. Jaswinder Singh Multani is accused of planting a bomb near Model Burail Jail in Chandigarh last year. He was arrested in Germany in 2021 on the accusation of masterminding the Ludhiana court blast.

Jaswinder Singh Multani is believed to be a close aide of Gurpatwant Singh Pannu, founder of SFJ, which is spearheading the Khalistan movement. The NIA teams conducted the raids in Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and other states in response to five cases registered against the members of Khalistan movement – a struggle for separate homeland for Sikhs by separation of Punjab from India.

More than 200 Red Team members of the NIA were present in raids at over 100 places, media reports said. In 2019, the Indian government banned the SFJ under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act for its activities for creation of Khalistan.
