India’s Democratic Claims Criticized by Pakistani Minister

Islamabad: Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan, Engineer Amir Muqam, has criticized India’s assertion of being a democratic nation, citing its ongoing occupation of Jammu and Kashmir as contradictory.

According to a statement by Kashmir Media Service, Engineer Amir Muqam remarked on India’s Republic Day, which is observed as Black Day by Kashmiris, highlighting the inconsistency between India’s celebration of democracy and its actions in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). He pointed out the continued denial of Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination, marking over seven decades of conflict and unrest in the region.

Engineer Muqam called attention to the international community’s role in addressing human rights violations in IIOJK, urging for intervention. He assured that Pakistan would maintain its political, diplomatic, and moral support for the Kashmiri people’s quest for self-determination.

He also referenced United Nations resolutions that recognize the Kashmiris’ right to self-determination, urging the global organization to enforce its mandates and uphold the rights of the Kashmiri population.
