Indian Troops Conduct Prolonged Search Operations in Jammu Region

Jammu, Indian troops have been conducting extensive cordon and search operations (CASOs) in various districts of the Jammu region in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

According to Kashmir Media Service, these operations, involving the Indian army and the Central Reserve Police Force, have persisted for the ninth consecutive day in the Poonch and Rajouri districts. Residents have reported instances of troops forcibly entering homes and causing distress among the inhabitants, particularly in the Surankote and Thanamundi areas of these districts.

The operations have also extended to various localities in the Samba and Kishtwar districts. Alongside these military activities, the region has been grappling with significant communication disruptions. Mobile internet services in Rajouri and Poonch have remained suspended, severely affecting the daily lives of the local population. The suspension, which began on the night of December 22 and 23, was reportedly implemented to conceal the repercussions of the Indian state’s aggressive tactics, particularly following the custodial killings of three civilians by the Indian army in the Surankote area.

The ongoing internet blackout has particularly impacted residents in areas lacking broadband or fiber-based internet services. Many have expressed their difficulties in accessing digital services, calling for the urgent lifting of these restrictions. Residents from various parts of Rajouri have voiced their need for the restoration of mobile internet services to mitigate the challenges posed by the current situation.
