Indian Troops Accused of Killing Nine Kashmiris in April

Srinagar: Indian forces have been accused of killing nine Kashmiris in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) during the month of April, according to data released by the Research Section of Kashmir Media Service.

The report claims that three of the nine individuals were killed in fake encounters and custody. These incidents reportedly left one woman widowed and five children orphaned.

In addition to the fatalities, the report states that Indian security forces including the Indian Army, Rashtriya Rifles, and Central Reserve Police Force, along with other agencies, arrested approximately 2,480 civilians. This group comprised mainly political activists, youth, traders, and students. Many were reportedly detained under laws such as the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and Public Safety Act.

The month also witnessed violent attacks reportedly by unknown assailants, resulting in the deaths of 25 outsiders and a local Kashmiri, with 15 others injured near Pahalgam. Indian forces were also reported to have destroyed and damaged 36 residential properties during 322 operations throughout the region.

The administration, led by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and under the control of the Indian Home Minister, allegedly seized 31 properties including residential houses, shops, and agricultural lands. This has been described as an effort to economically suppress the Kashmiri population and curb political dissent.

These actions reflect ongoing tensions and the complex political landscape in the region, as reported by Kashmir Media Service.
