Indian Police Neutralize IED on Srinagar-Jammu Highway, Challenging Claims of Normalcy

Srinagar, Indian police forces have reported the successful defusing of a timer-based improvised explosive device (IED) found on the Srinagar-Jammu highway, casting doubts on the Indian government’s assertions of normalcy in the occupied region of Jammu and Kashmir.

According to Kashmir Media Service reports that the IED was discovered planted along the Sidhra-Narwal segment of the highway, close to a police checkpoint. The discovery led to immediate action by the police and bomb disposal units, prompting the halt of traffic along the highway as the situation was addressed.

The device, which was approximately two kilograms in weight, was neutralized without incident. Officials from the police force highlighted the swift response that prevented what could have been a severe catastrophe. Subsequently, legal proceedings were initiated, with a case being registered under applicable laws.

This event comes in the context of heightened security issues in the region and challenges the prevailing narrative by the Modi government regarding the state of peace and order in Jammu and Kashmir.
