Karachi, In the districts of Islamabad and Budgam in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), Indian police have detained five Kashmiri youth for their activities on social media. This action marks a continued scrutiny and control of social media usage in the region.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the police in Islamabad district initiated legal proceedings against three individuals – Salman Mushtaq Kuttay, Rameez Ashraf Hadi, and Umer Farooq Ganie. They are accused of posting ‘inflammatory’ content on various social media platforms. The police statement did not specify the nature of the content deemed inflammatory.
In a separate incident in Budgam district, two more individuals were apprehended for their social media activities and subsequently presented before a Magistrate. Investigations into their online activities are ongoing.
These incidents highlight the heightened surveillance and control measures over social media in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, reflecting broader tensions and concerns about the use of these platforms in the region.
