New Delhi, July 15, 2021 (PPI-OT): Although India is notorious for being a ‘rapistan’ country, in view of increasing cases of rape and gang-rape, but the crime is not confined only to ordinary citizens, the law enforcement personnel are also involved in such incidents.
One of the four men who raped a woman after holding her captive for nine days was found out to be a policeman.
In her statement, the woman, who is in her late 20s, alleged that she knew the suspects who were from her village. On June 30, she was talking to one of the accused when two of his friends arrived in a car. They drove towards Ballabhgarh in Faridabad with her, where they confined her to a room and raped her repeatedly.
The Haryana Police has lodged a case against four men, including a police constable, for allegedly holding a woman captive for nine days and raping her.
The woman, who is married, alleged that she was injected with sedatives and remained unconscious most of the time. The accused left her at the Ballabhgarh bus stand on July 8, following which she contacted her family and reached home. She filed a complaint with the police on July 10.
The police have registered a case under various provisions of the IPC, including rape, kidnapping, and relevant sections of the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. The accused are yet to be arrested, PTI reported.
