Indian Police Charge Two Kashmiris in Arms Seizure Case, One Deceased

Srinagar, The Indian police have filed a charge-sheet against two Kashmiri individuals, implicating them in an alleged false arms seizure case, in a court of the Indian National Investigation Agency (NIA) in Srinagar, Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the charge-sheet has been filed under the Arms Act and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. The case involves two Kashmiris, Arfat Yousuf Khan and Yawar Shafi Butt. Notably, Yawar Shafi Butt was killed in an operation by Indian forces at Shah Mohalla Yadipora Palhallan in Baramulla district on September 30, 2022, as stated by an official. Arfat Yousuf Khan hails from Pathigam Rajpora, while Butt was a resident of Kalampora Pulwama.

This filing of the charge-sheet raises questions about the circumstances surrounding the case, especially given the death of one of the accused, Yawar Shafi Butt, in a military operation before the legal proceedings could take place.
