Indian police book, journalist, three youth under PSA in occupied Kashmir

Srinagar, September 18, 2023 (PPI-OT): Indian police booked Kashmiri journalist and TV panelist Majid Hyderi and three Kashmiri youth under black law, Public Safety Act (PSA) in Srinagar and Kishtwar districts of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir on Monday.

Speaking to the media, the mother of journalist Majid Hyderi confirmed that he has been booked under the PSA and shifted to the Kot Bhalwal jail in Jammu.

Majid Hyderi was arrested by police from his residence in Srinagar on September 15.

The police also slapped the PSA on the youth identified as Touseef-ul-Nabi of main Kishtwar, Riyaz Ahmad of Dachan and Zahoor Kamal of Kishtwar and shifted them to different jails of Jammu.

The police dubbed the youth as members of mujahid organizations to justify their illegal detention.

The Public Safety Act (PSA), 1978, is a black law that allows the detention of any individual for up to two years without a trial or charge.

Meanwhile, Indian forces’ personnel have detained a social media user Irfan Malik, from Srinagar.

Police claimed that the social media user was detained for posting ‘abusive content’ against the slain Deputy Superintendent of Police, who killed in an attack in Kokernag.
