Indian police arrest two persons including social activist Waqar Bhatti in IIOJK

Jammu, May 28, 2022 (PPI-OT):In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Indian police have arrested renowned social activist, Waqar Hussain Bhatti, and a youth. Waqar Hussain Bhatti who regularly participates in Indian media debates relating to Jammu and Kashmir counters the anti-Kashmir propaganda during these discussions on which he has been targeted by the Indian Hindutva authorities and implicated in a fake case.

The Bahu Fort police in Jammu arrested Waqar Bhatti making a case against him for allegedly hurting religious sentiments with his ‘shivling’ tweet which caused social media outrage. Following his tweet, which was later deleted, netizens demanded his immediate arrest.

Facing a backlash on social media, Waqar Hussain Bhatti, a resident of Thanna Mandi area of Rajouri district, had sought to clarify his tweet with another tweet saying, “I did not target any religion and why I should target when the matter is in court.” He was produced in the court, which sent him to police custody till June 03, 2022.

It is pertinent to mention here that Bhatti is a staunch supporter of Kashmiris’ right to self-determination and has been highlighting the Indian atrocities in the occupied territory for past several years. Meanwhile, Indian police arrested a youth, Mohammad Saleem Khan, from Authoora Bala Bridge in Baramulla.
