New Delhi: Indian MPs from several opposition parties, operating under the INDIA alliance, staged a protest on the premises of the Indian Parliament today, demanding a joint parliamentary probe into the Adani issue.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the demonstration was prompted by recent accusations of bribery and fraud against Adani Group’s chairman, Gautam Adani, and other senior executives. These allegations have been detailed by US prosecutors and have drawn connections to Adani’s close ties with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Key political figures from parties including Congress, AAP, RJD, Shiv Sena (UBT), DMK, and Left parties participated in the protest. The leaders voiced slogans against Modi, emphasizing the need for accountability in relation to the Adani Group allegations. Congress leader and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, also took part in the protest, notably positioning himself on the steps of Parliament to underscore the opposition’s demand for action.
