New Delhi, May 13, 2022 (PPI-OT):India’s notorious National Investigation Agency (NIA) filed a charge sheet, today, against seven people including prominent Kashmiri human rights defender Khurram Parvez, in a false case registered buy the probe agency, last year.
The charge sheet was filed in a special NIA court in New Delhi against Khurram Parvez, former NIA officer and Superintendent of Police Arvind Digvijay Negi, Muneer Ahmad Kataria and Arshid Ahmad Tonch of north Kashmir, Zaffar Abbas of Bihar, and Rambhawan Prasad and Chandan Mahato of West Bengal under relevant laws, a spokesperson of the agency said.
Khurram Parvez was arrested in November last year and Negi in February this year in connection with a case related to providing support to the ongoing Kashmir freedom movement. The NIA registered the case on November 6 last year.
The NIA spokesperson said that Parvez was charged under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, Prevention of Corruption Act and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act while Negi was charged under various sections of the IPC, Official Secrets Act and the Prevention of Corruption Act. Further investigation in the case was underway, the spokesperson said.
