Sialkot: The international broadcaster Deutsche Welle (DW) has uncovered misleading propaganda against Pakistan originating from Indian social media accounts. In a comprehensive fact-check, DW exposed several videos shared from Indian sources as fake.
A video depicting an alleged attack on the Pakistani city of Sialkot was scrutinized by DW. It was revealed that the footage, shared from an Indian social media account, was misleading. The video was not a recent attack but rather a month-old incident of a gas cylinder explosion in Mumbai.
Additionally, DW identified another misleading video featuring the Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) of Pakistan. This video had been manipulated using artificial intelligence to alter the original statements of the DG ISPR.
In another case, a video falsely showing former US President Donald Trump endorsing Indian aggression was circulated. DW’s fact-checking confirmed the video was AI-generated and that Trump had made no such statement.
Defense analysts have commented on this pattern, noting that Indian media has a history of spreading false propaganda to obscure the truth.
This revelation underscores the importance of rigorous fact-checking in an era where misinformation can easily be disseminated through digital platforms.
