Indian govt never entertained reports on Kashmir: Yashwant Sinha

Srinagar, July 06, 2021 (PPI-OT):In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, former Indian minister, Yashwant Sinha, on Tuesday said that the reports that have been briefed and submitted to the Indian government time and again have never been entertained or responded but the government act contrary to those reports.

In an interview in Srinagar, he said that he has been visiting to IIOJK since 2016 along with his colleagues to acquaint themselves with the ground reality. He said that after the abrogation of Article 370, the Concerned Citizens Group (CCG) came to the territory but this was his first tour after the abrogation of 370. I am here again today with the same energy and intent to interact with people to gauge the ground situation and pass it to the people living in India, he said.

“It’s right to say that the reports that have been collected in the past have not been responded by the government but instead the governments have acted against to those reports, like scraping of special status of Jammu and Kashmir and bifurcating it into two union territories, but the aim of our visit is to make people aware about the situation and ground realities of Jammu Kashmir and we are doing that,” he added. While replying to a question, Sinha said that the BJP doesn’t have much presence in the Kashmir, but they have some presence in Jammu. “I feel the people of Jammu and Kashmir would respond through vote to the actions of BJP that they have taken in Jammu and Kashmir,” he said.

On the ongoing delimitation process, Sinha said that the process is taking place here because it is a part of re-organization act of Jammu and Kashmir, and the act is under challenge in Supreme Court. “It’s surprising to see that they are going with the process when it’s already in the court.” He also said that all the issues between India and Pakistan can be addressed through dialogue. “We have to talk to Pakistan, and they have to talk to us. Since the two governments have realized that they cannot live in a state of enmity, some back-channel talks have been started and the recent ceasefire on the Line of Control is the outcome of the same,” he said.
