Karachi, The Indian government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has reportedly escalated its actions against individuals involved in the freedom movement in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). In a recent operation, the Modi administration has seized properties of five more activists in the region, a move seen as punitive for their involvement in the ongoing struggle for autonomy.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the Indian authorities attached the immovable properties of five Hurriyat activists in the Ganderbal district. These actions were taken under a false case registered against Mohammad Yousuf, Bashir Ahmad, Mohammad Rafiq, Mohammad Sakhi, and Hilal Ahmad. This development marks the latest in a series of property confiscations aimed at suppressing the freedom movement in the region.
Previously, Indian authorities have seized the headquarters of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference in Srinagar, along with hundreds of houses and properties belonging to various Hurriyat leaders and organizations. These include properties of notable figures such as Syed Ali Gilani Shaheed, Shabbir Ahmed Shah, Aasiya Andrabi, and Jamaat-e-Islami. Furthermore, the occupation authorities have demolished numerous residential houses, shops, shopping complexes, and other properties across occupied Kashmir.
The release highlights that the frequent confiscation of properties in occupied Kashmir has become a norm under the Modi regime. This strategy is seen as an attempt to economically weaken the Kashmiri population and dissuade them from supporting the freedom struggle. The Indian troops are also reportedly engaged in regular destruction of Kashmiri houses during violent military operations. These actions are part of a broader campaign by the Indian government, aiming to undermine the economic stability of the region and suppress the quest for self-determination.
The press release concludes with a strong message to the Indian government, stating that such brutal military occupation and colonial tactics have historically failed to quell the Kashmiris’ desire for freedom. It urges India to cease its state terrorism and honor its promise of allowing the Kashmiri people to exercise their right to self-determination.
