Indian Government Deploys New Police Force in Kashmir to Intensify Control

Srinagar: The BJP-led Indian government has introduced a new contingent of highly trained police officers in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, targeting residents who support the region’s pro-freedom movements.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the newly deployed force consists of 960 officers specifically trained to operate in villages near the Line of Control (LoC). This move aims to suppress civilian support for Kashmir’s self-determination, recognized by the United Nations. An Indian media report highlighted that this force, likened to the US Marines and unique to the region, is strictly assigned to this specific duty.

“Nearly 560 of these police personnel have been deployed in the Jammu division, with the remainder stationed throughout the Kashmir Valley,” the report stated. It also cited Jammu and Kashmir Police Chief RR Swain, who confirmed that the officers, recently graduated from the Jammu and Kashmir Police Training School, would be exclusively committed to their roles without involvement in other duties.
