Indian Government Continues Property Seizures in Kashmir

Srinagar, The Narendra Modi-led Indian government persists in its campaign of confiscating properties in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), targeting civilians associated with the region’s freedom movement.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the latest action by the Indian authorities involved the seizure of a residential property belonging to a civilian, Mushtaq Ahmad, in the Chanapora area of Srinagar. The property was attached by India’s National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Saturday.

This move is part of a broader pattern of property confiscations in IIOJK. Previously, Indian authorities had seized the headquarters of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference in Srinagar, along with numerous houses and properties owned by Hurriyat leaders and organizations, including figures such as Syed Ali Gilani Shaheed, Shabbir Ahmed Shah, Aasiya Andrabi, and Jamaat-e-Islami. Moreover, many residential houses, shops, shopping complexes, and other properties have been demolished by the occupation authorities.

The frequent attachment and confiscation of properties in IIOJK by Indian authorities are viewed as attempts to economically weaken the Kashmiri population and suppress their freedom movement. These actions are seen as part of a systematic campaign by India’s Hindutva regime, marked by political vendetta and state terrorism.

Despite these oppressive tactics, the Kashmir Media Service reports that the Kashmiri people’s determination for freedom remains undeterred. The outlet calls on India to cease its state terrorism and uphold its promise to grant the Kashmiri people their right to self-determination.
