Raipur: In a recent operation, Indian forces personnel killed three women in the military-stricken state of Chhattisgarh, escalating tensions in an area long affected by conflict.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the casualties occurred during a joint operation by the District Reserve Guard (DRG), Special Task Force (STF), and Border Security Force (BSF) in the Abujhmad area of Bastar district. Superintendent of Police in Narayanpur, Prabhat Kumar, stated that the operation was initiated following intelligence reports of Maoist leader presence. The confrontation led to the deaths of three women, whose bodies were recovered post-exchange of fire. The operation in the area is set to continue.
The incident adds to a troubling pattern of violence, with Indian forces reportedly killing 192 individuals, including women, in various alleged encounters across the state this year. This surge in military activity follows a statement by Indian Home Minister Amit Shah, who recently advocated for a decisive end to the Naxal and Maoist insurgencies in the region.
