Indian Forces Kill Nine in Chhattisgarh Operation

Raipur, In a recent operation in violence-afflicted Chhattisgarh, Indian troops have reportedly killed nine individuals. The action underscores the persistent conflict in the state, marked by clashes between government forces and groups identified as Naxal or Maoist guerrillas.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the operation was conducted by the Indian paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force, in collaboration with the Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA), District Reserve Guard, and Special Task Force in a forest near Lendra village, Bijapur district. Indian officials have labeled those killed as members of the Naxalite or Maoist movement, which continues to challenge Indian authority, seeking independence from what they term as Indian hegemony.

Bastar IG Sundarraj indicated that the operation was initiated following intelligence about the presence of a senior Naxal figure, Papa Rao, in the area. This incident follows closely on the heels of another operation in Bijapur district, where Indian paramilitary and police forces were reported to have killed six members of the Maoist movement in what has been described as a fake encounter.

These episodes of violence highlight the ongoing strife in Chhattisgarh and other northeastern states of India, where government forces and Maoist groups remain locked in a protracted conflict.
