Indian Forces Intensify House Raids in Srinagar Amid Rising Tensions

Srinagar: Indian forces conducted a series of house raids in Srinagar, escalating tensions in the region of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir. In what is described as ongoing harassment, over a dozen homes were searched by Indian forces, leading to widespread unease among residents.

The search operations, reportedly executed under the directives of the Indian Home Ministry and the administration led by New Delhi-appointed Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, targeted various neighborhoods throughout the city. These actions were carried out under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), a law that has faced criticism for its stringent measures.

Residents affected by the raids included those from areas such as Gousia Colony, Pather Masjid, Aali Kadal, and several others. Families reported that Indian forces seized personal items, including house and bank documents, mobile phones, and digital devices, contributing to an atmosphere of fear and uncertainty.

The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has voiced concern over these developments. Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas, a spokesman for the APHC, released a statement condemning the raids and the subsequent seizure of property. He highlighted the unsettling impact these actions have on the local population and called for international intervention.

In his statement, Minhas urged the United Nations to address the escalating situation in Kashmir. He appealed for a resolution to the longstanding dispute in accordance with United Nations resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.

The situation in Srinagar remains tense as residents and local leaders continue to navigate the impact of these search operations. The calls for international attention underscore the ongoing complexities and sensitivities surrounding the Kashmir conflict.
