Indian Forces Escalate Military Operations in Jammu and Kashmir, Residents Describe Siege-Like Conditions

Srinagar: Residents of Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir are experiencing heightened military operations as Indian forces conduct extensive cordon and search operations across the region, creating a climate of fear and uncertainty.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the intensified military presence involves various branches of Indian security forces, including the Army, Central Reserve Police Force, Village Defence Guards, and Special Operations Group. These forces are reportedly engaging in house raids and searches in multiple districts, such as Srinagar, Kupwara, Baramulla, Ganderbal, Bandipore, Islamabad, Shopian, Pulwama, Kulgam, and others, affecting daily life and instilling a pervasive sense of dread among the local population.

Residents have reported severe disruptions, describing the conditions as “hellish.” They recount instances of troops entering homes, harassing occupants, and causing property damage. This month alone, allegations have surfaced of numerous Kashmiris being killed, arrested, or detained under stringent laws without proper justification.

The All Parties Hurriyat Conference has issued a statement from Srinagar calling on the international community to intervene. They urge global leaders to hold India accountable for its actions in the region and to address the Kashmir issue in accordance with United Nations resolutions.
