Karachi, Residents of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) are facing intensified hardships due to the ongoing cordon and search operations (CASOs) conducted by Indian forces. These operations, frequently carried out in various districts, have escalated the distress of the local population, particularly amidst the severe winter conditions.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Indian army, paramilitary, police, National Investigation Agency, and State Investigation Agency personnel have been conducting extensive CASOs and house raids in several districts including Srinagar, Baramulla, Bandipora, Kupwara, Pulwama, Shopian, Islamabad, Kulgam, Rajouri, and Poonch. Residents have reported harassment, with forces allegedly making them stand outside for hours in the cold, barging into homes, terrorizing families including women and children, and vandalizing property.
The All Parties Hurriyat Conference spokesman, in a statement from Srinagar, asserted that such brutalities by Indian forces cannot suppress the Kashmiri people’s aspiration for freedom. He expressed disappointment over the international community’s silence on the issue and called on the United Nations to actively engage in resolving the Kashmir dispute in line with its resolutions and the wishes of the Kashmiri people.
In a related development, the High Court of IIOJK overturned the detention of four individuals – Muhammad Maqbool Karnai, Sameer Ahmed Khan, Shahid Nazir Malik, and Zahid Zameer Mir – who were arrested under the Public Safety Act for their involvement in the freedom movement. The court ordered their immediate release.
Furthermore, a report released by Kashmir Media Service on the ninth anniversary of the terrorist attack on the Army Public School in Peshawar, Pakistan, highlighted India’s alleged role in financing and planning terrorist activities in Pakistan. The report accused India’s Research and Analysis Wing of orchestrating the APS attack, which was executed by Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan militants. It also cited evidence presented by Islamabad regarding India’s involvement in terror acts across Pakistan and referred to India’s role in the 1971 dismemberment of Pakistan, a claim reportedly confessed by Indian leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
