Islamabad, September 04, 2021 (PPI-OT):Pakistan summoned the Indian Charge d’ Affaires (Cd’A) to the Foreign Office for a demarche over a reprehensible conduct after the death of veteran Kashmiri Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Gilani.

Gilani, 92, died at his home in Srinagar on Wednesday night after a prolonged illness. The iconic Hurriyat leader, who spearheaded pro-freedom politics for over three decades in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, was buried at a mosque near his residence. The Foreign Office said that India’s conduct was in blatant violation of international humanitarian laws, and all tenets of civil and human rights.

The Indian forces repeatedly resorted to indiscriminate use of force against Kashmiris protesting against their conduct, the FO said. It was emphasized to the Charge d’ Affaires that India must refrain from any missteps that might further jeopardize regional peace.

He was reminded of Pakistan’s consistent stance that Government of India must immediately lift the illegal military siege in IIOJK, desist from measures to change the demographic structure of the occupied territory, withdraw its over 900,000 occupational troops and cease all human rights violations in the IIOJK forthwith.

The Indian Charge d’ Affaires was conveyed Pakistan’s principled position that lasting and durable peace in the region was contingent on the peaceful resolution of the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the relevant UNSC resolutions and the wishes of the Kashmiri people.
