Indian CISF constable shoots himself dead, BSF officer attempts suicide

New Delhi, January 11, 2023 (PPI-OT):A constable of Indian Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) committed suicide at New Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport. The CISF constable identified as Jatendar Kumar ended his life by shooting himself with his pistol inside a bathroom at terminal 3 of the airport. Meanwhile, a soldier of Indian Border Security Force suffered a bullet injury when another soldier tried to prevent a commanding officer from commit suicide at a camp in Malkangiri area of Odisha state.

The soldier saved one of the officers by getting hold of the rifle when he tried to shoot himself. The fire hit another BSF soldier working nearby in the camp, a BSF spokesperson said. The officer who was attempting to end his life by using a service weapon holds the rank of second-in-command which is equivalent to a Superintendent of Police (SP).
